Alleged 3DMark scores of AMD Radeon RX 6800XT

Alleged 3DMark scores of AMD Radeon RX 6800XT

Multiple sources now published 3DMark results of an alleged AMD Radeon RX 6800XT showing benchmark results at a 4k resolution. These results are compared to the Geforce RTX 3080 from NVIDIA.

Though most scores you see leaked online are a little too perfect with their nicely rounded numbers, it doesn't mean that there's any merit to them. These results have not yet been confirmed and may also be affected by drivers. So take this with a grain of salt. Independent results for game performance, are not yet available. Overall we see the alleged Radeon RX 6800XT battling with an RTX 3080, and that has been expected for a while now. The scores floating on the web originate from the typically leaking website, however one tweet and some results from wccftech jump out.

RX 6800XT would perform up to 22 percent better in Firestrike Ultra 4K. In TimeSpy the difference seems smaller again and in ray tracing benchmarks the RTX 3080 seems to outperform AMD's upcoming video card.

The developer of the CapframeX posted initial performance figures for the Big Navi, without confirming which SKU that is. The SKU would allegedly offer 8% better performance than RTX 3080 in Fire Strike Ultra, a DirectX 11 based 4K benchmark.

Now such perfect numbers do not exist in benchmark land, but indicative we can place them in our chart as that 3080 closely matches our charts. And guys, the chart below this is a hypothetical okay?

I this is true it better be cheaper than a 3080 because of the lack of DLSS(presumably) and poorer raytracing. Or I guess they would charge the same because they can?

Good thinking. Maybe 3080 should reduce prices based on information above, because it has inferior rasterization capabilities which matter in 99.9...% of existing games. And ~99% of upcoming games within next 12~24 months. And because it provides inferior image quality through use of "proprietary performance improving technique" called DLSS.

Or what about letting those companies set prices they want. And let Free Market do what it is best at.

I suspect AMD will price these the same as Nvidia counterparts (3080).
If you can't buy the 3080, why price Navi cheaper?
And it will sell like hot cakes!
While I would agree with this in general, there is still a good reason not to though.
Customer loyalty in terms of fair-price-policy.

I imagine they will price them competitively this generation, and increase their pricing once they gain market share, much like they've done with Ryzen. Unless they do a total dick move and just try to cash in on 3000-series supply woes. That however won't win them any favours.

Well, if this is true - I'm starting to look forward to the 6900xt.

Yeah the 6900XT looks real tasty if these numbers on the 6800XT are correct. I don't think the biggest Navi will be much less than £1200, though, but I'd like to be surprised with a lower price. 1K would be about the limit I would be willing to spend on a GPU but saying that the 6800XT is looking like a good option, and in my opinion a better option than the 3080, again, if the numbers in the leak are close to accurate.
