All ASRock 600-Series Motherboards To Include Base Frequency Boost Support For 12th Gen Non-K Alder Lake CPUs
BFB 'Base Frequency Boost' will be available on all of ASRock's 600-series motherboards for Intel's 12th Generation Alder Lake processors, the company has confirmed.
This was confirmed by Giant Dongs, a Reddit user who received a message directly from ASRock regarding the feature in question. For those who wish to get additional performance out of their Intel Alder Lake Non-K CPU by increasing the power limit for higher base frequencies, this is a fantastic solution. The response is as follows:
Hello,
after checking with BIOS department, our 600 series mainboards support BFB, too.
Best regards,
ASRock Support
The Z690 series is currently the only one that supports overclocking, which allows all cores of a non-K series CPU to operate at a higher boost clock frequency for an extended period of time without experiencing performance degradation. Base Frequency Boost is a feature that manipulates the TDP and power supply parameters in order to change the maximum clock frequency of the processor.

Base clock overclocking is normally unstable (but my p3 loved it) and breaks memory timings maybe ddr5 ecc will improve this for alder lake

I want Hilbert to test this once it becomes available! Maybe we can crack 5 Ghz with non K CPUs!

i think this is similar to unlocking power limits on asus/msi? I've always maxed those out

This a bit like the older multi-core enhancement tech?
