Following the lead of CEO Pat Gelsinger and the tentative dates Intel has been providing, Intel will hold its Intel Innovation event on October 27 and 28, according to a press release. Everything points to the announcement of Alder Lake at this event.

As well as being the first desktop processors to use Intel's new 7-nanometer manufacturing process, they will also be the first to use a hybrid architecture that combines high-performance cores with cores with high efficiency, similar to ARM's BIG.little. In addition, this new generation will be the first to support DDR5 and PCI-Express 5.0 memory.

Intel confirmed that Alder Lake-S will feature 8 Golden Cove cores and 8 Gracemont cores

Alder Lake-S will feature 8 Golden Cove high-performance cores and 8 Gracemont high-efficiency cores, Intel confirmed this in a new render. Due to the fact that Gracemont cores do not support Hyper-Threading (HT), Alder Lake-S can only offer 16 cores and 24 threads, which is what the i9-12900K will have.
