Affordable Logitech Z607 speakers with 5.1 surround sound, Bluetooth and FM radio

Logitech next month will release a new speaker, the Z607. The company positions this mainly as a living room system where everything can be connected; Bluetooth is supported as well as FM Radio. At a price of 129 Euros/USd the kit will not be expensive.

The kit id based on a 25W subwoofer and five satellite speakers (55 watts rms total). You can listen to sources via 3.5mm, RCA cables, Bluetooth 4.2, an SD card and a USB stick (both up to 32 GB). A nice extra is the built-in FM radio. Extra-long 6.2m rear satellite speaker cables allow for optimal placement in living rooms, gaming spaces, offices, bedrooms—just about anywhere you want.

Set them on desks, consoles, and end tables, or easily mount them to the wall.2 With 160 Watts Peak, this 5.1 speaker system wraps your space in high-quality audio that sounds amazing. Enjoy true surround sound from any source—your TV, phone, computer, games, and more. You can even play audio content directly from SD cards, USB drives or FM radio.

The 133.35 mm subwoofer driver pumps out bass you can feel, while the included remote and extra-long rear cables make it easy to set up and use. Logitech will make the Z607 Surround Sound with bluetooth available from November 23 for a suggested retail price of 129 euros.

That looks pretty good to me, subwoofer seems small but nowadays I live in an apartment block anyway.

Anyone who would advice against a wireless solutions in this Bluetooth-fest for some reason? Does audio quality suffer?

Depends on the implementation - if it's using like AptX HD it will be pretty good regular bluetooth might be noticeable but I don't think people buying $150, 5.1 Channel speaker setups are looking for audiophile playback anyway.

Yes, bluetooth audio is not high fidelity.
ever.
is it convenient? certainly, but so were 8 track cassettes vs. LP records (and also sounded worse than).

at best, under ideal circumstances, bluetooth might sound as good as a cassette tape. which was good enough for some.

in all honesty, every single bluetooth audio device ever made sounds better plugged in (if you can) where you will hear a clearly audible improvement in sound from turning off the bluetooth.

i've even stopped using it in the car...where there's way more noise than in the home.

true dat, but you'd hear the difference anyways between wired and bluetooth
