Aerocool Cipher is a mid-tower PC case capable of housing up to 12 3.5-inch hard drives.

Aerocool has unveiled its Cipher mid-tower PC case, which supports up to 12 3.5-inch hard drives.

Along with the 3.5-inch shadow bay x3, the 2.5-inch shadow bay x2 or 3.5-inch shadow bay x1 on the bottom shroud, the 2.5-inch shadow bay x2 behind the motherboard tray, and the removable HDD cage (3.5-inch bay x2) on the front part, up to 12 3.5-inch HDDs and 2.5-inch SSDx3 can be installed simultaneously. Excellent for storage servers and storage-based mining personal computers such as Chia.

The front panel is nearly all mesh, the cooling fan is 120 / 140mmx3, the top 120mmx3 or 140mmx2, and the rear 120mmx1, and the water cooling radiator is 360 / 280mm front (HDD cage must be removed), 360 / 280mm top, and rear supports up to 120 mm. There are seven expansion slots, and a vertical expansion slot is included as standard equipment. The effective height for the CPU cooler is 160 mm, the depth for the power supply unit is 229 mm, the height for the graphics card is 290 mm, and the height for the graphics card is 400 mm when the HDD gauge is removed, thus it can also be used as a case for high-end gaming PCs.

The I / O ports include USB3.0x1, USB2.0x2, and a high-definition audio terminal. ATX, MicroATX, and Mini-ITX form types are all supported. External measurements are 205 mm in width, 485 mm in depth, and 485 mm in height.

I was hunting for a new home server case and this is an interesting product. While it doesn't have hotswap bays, I assume it should be priced accordingly (cheaper) thanks to that omission. Previously I had been looking at the fractal design 7 XL, a handful of old full tower chassis, and 4u rackmount cases. Given that a lot of Aerocool's cases seem to be under $100 USD (?!), I'm going guess this will be the most affordable option for a storage server if the quality is any good.
