Acer Launches Switch Alpha 12 2-in-one laptop with Core i7 and liquid cooling

Acer Launches Switch Alpha 12 2-in-one laptop with Core i7 and liquid cooling

Acer Has launched their follow-up of the Acer Switch 12S, the Switch Alpha 12. It comes with a type-cover-like keyboard.The 2-in-1 hybrid that relies on liquid cooling to keep its components cool.

The 12-inch device features a brushed aluminium design, offering a 2160x1440 display and a kickstand. It includes a backlit keyboard and configuration options that include sixth-generation Intel Core i series of processors, 4 or 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB storage. The device also offers a full-size USB 3.0 port, as well as a USB Type-C port, and you can even opt for an Intel RealSense 3D camera, which allows you to login to the notebook using Windows Hello.

The Switch Alpha 12 is a liquid-cooled, fanless 2-in-1 laptop, which Acer claims is silent during operation. The 12-inch screen has a Quad HD display with 2,160 x 1,440 resolution. A keyboard cover comes with the device — a notable difference from how Microsoft sells its Surface Pro tablets. It's the first hybrid laptop to run Intel's sixth generation Core processor without a fan, a notable accomplishment since fan noise is still a problem with today's thin laptops. The Switch Alpha 12 also packs in a kickstand and a detachable keyboard, both of which gives it the vague profile of Microsoft's Surface devices.

Liquid cooled - interesting! I always thought that with other liquid cooled laptops there was a docking station that contained the reservoir & other components necessary for liquid cooling - Asus did a gaming laptop with that. I can't see anything like that with this laptop so I'm assuming it's a very small internal liquid cooling solution, this laptop is tiny so I'm kind of surprised they would have managed that, could do with some more details on this cooling system.

Ok, got some details: it's a heatpipe, that's it. Unfortunately every website on the internet just copy pastes the press release and all the marketing crap that goes with it.
