500,000 Activision accounts could have been hacked, although the company denies it.

500,000 Activision accounts could have been hacked, although the company denies it.

Activision might have had a hack on their hands, involving more than half a million user accounts. The news gets weird here though, the company disputes this information.

The Dexerto site reported that this data breach occurred on Sunday, September 20. Some people even reported that the credentials of the hacked accounts are being changed to prevent access to the original owners. As of the time of publishing, over 500,000 Activision accounts have reportedly been hacked, with log-ins being leaked publicly. Hackers are then changing the account details, making it so the original owners can’t recover them. The breach was first reported by ‘oRemyy’ on Twitter. This was then confirmed by other content creators, like TheGamingRevolution, Prototype Warehouse, and Okami.

The company posted a message conveying reassurance, saying that "reports suggesting that Activision Call of Duty accounts have been compromised are not accurate ." In addition to promising that "we will investigate all concerns about privacy."

Sadly these occurrences are becoming a way of life.

Which? Major security breaches, or major companies denying allegations?
