3dfx reveals range of new products: From PCI cards up-to smart TVs (Update)

It was revealed last week that 3dfx Interactive, a former GPU designer, was interested in resuming its operations. At least the brand name has been resold towards a company. The remaining assets of the firm have been acquired by a newly formed US investor, Jansen Products, and new notifications have been made today.

A presentation has been released on the firm's fresh new Twitter account, which the company claims is authentic, demonstrating that Jansen Products took over the other business divisions in mid-July, according to the presentation. According to one presentation, the complete acquisition of the trademarks may take several more weeks, and the company intends to "produce cellphones, smart TVs, sound systems, and other products in addition to video cards."

A total of six devices in various categories, including a PCI plug-in board dubbed Voodoo 6, are already in the works. The Voodoo 5 was the final graphics card produced by the firm. A smartphone, a Bluetooth speaker, a home theater speaker setup, a tablet, and a smart television are all included on the list. These items are scheduled to be introduced at the 'CEC in 2022.' While this might be a reference to the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, which will be held in Glasgow, it is more likely that the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will be held in Las Vegas, is mentioned.

Huge goals, which leads us to believe that this is nothing more than a radiantly designed prank for the public's imagination. Examples include the goal of serving at least 900,000 clients with more than 300 additional workers, as well as plans for more than 600 projects, according to the company's website. Those are significant figures for a firm that has just recently risen from the ashes.

Update: as expected, the twitter account was just pulled. We can't wait to see an official ATI account soon ;)

Many people will not be surprised to learn that the comeback of 3dfx was a hoax, as it was in the past. Because the 'official' Twitter account no longer exists, it is impossible to locate the postings that were made in response to it. An alert Twitter user has been able to capture screenshots of the most recent messages that contain the hashtag @AtiParody (a Twitter account that has also been deleted in the meantime). Given the appearance of a poor joke, it is obvious that the presentation is bogus.

This account is closed. It was indeed a troll. Twitter and Nvidia confirmed that.

Still do think the 3dfx name, seminal with the acceleration revolution, could sell and would be a nice novelty comeback in some form.

The whole Twitter as a service and company is a joke and hoax, so I guess thís is not too surprising. Even if it wasn't a joke, it would have been just another company rebranding cheap bulk electronics already offered by dozens of other rebranders.
