We have a discussion thread open on this driver here in our Nvidia driver discussion forums. It seems NVIDIA dropped support for Series 600 graphics card, also the drivers offered are DCH only. You can find the NVIDIA release notes here.

does a regular nvidia driver update has more ramifications for my GPU than a driver/software update that ps4/xbox does?
Yes it does actually. Drivers can differ in how the shaders are optimized for the particular hardware, add new features, bug fixes, improvements etcetera. That's why driver updates can increase performance and stability.
Driver updates can even replace specific game shaders with ones that are made by the GPU manufacturer and thus more optimized for their architecture.
The only real way to speed up shader compilation is to get a faster CPU. On modern CPUs (Zen 3, Alder Lake, Zen 4, Raptor Lake), pre-gameplay shader compilation is usually very fast.

Umm, this is a "Game Ready" driver therefore not a studio driver.

A Game Ready driver wasn't up at the time he posted it, there was only a studio driver available at the time.

I actually wondered about this. Why the hell we need to recompile our shaders if I haven't changed my GPU ??
Now, consoles are pre configured and all that. BUT consoles also get hardware, driver and firmware updates. HOW COME old "packaged" shaders of ancient games work with newer updates of software? think of games from2014 released for PS4. they will work perfectly fine in 2022, no? despite countless hardware and software related changes and updates. literally whole firmware gets changes sometimes.
if sony and microsoft can make shaders backwards compatible FOR the same hardware I'M PRETTY SURE nvidia could've made shaders compatible between drivers as well, AT LEAST for the same familiy of card that is installed on your system
I just feel like they're taking a shortcut on this.
