Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.2 Highlights
Support For
- Gears Tactics
- Predator: Hunting Grounds
Fixed Issues
- Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience a system hang or black screen when running Folding@Home while also running an application using hardware acceleration of video content.
- A system crash or hang may be experienced when using Edge browser to play Netflix™ content.
- XSplit™ may experience an application hang or freeze when performing a scene switch.
- Minor stuttering may occur when performing a task switch with performance metrics overlay open in some games.
- Overwatch™ may experience an intermittent crash while entering a game or during extended gameplay sessions.
- Radeon RX 5700 series graphics product system configurations may intermittently experience a display loss or black screen while gaming or on desktop with a limited number of displays.
- Radeon Software may experience an application crash when playing games with non-alphanumeric characters in the game title.
- Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience an application crash with Microsoft® Teams when hardware acceleration is enabled.
- An ‘Unable to get requirements’ error message may intermittently occur when viewing the Upgrade Advisor tab in Radeon Software.
- Instant Replay or Record Desktop enabled.
- Resolved an install issue where Error 1603 could occur when an installation prerequisite for Visual C++ was not correctly detected as installed.
Known Issues
- Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
- Using Edge™ web browser to playback video content with a multi display system configuration may cause a system hang or crash after extended periods of use.
- Performance Metrics Overlay and Radeon WattMan incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not impacted by this incorrect reporting.
- Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider may cause FPS to become locked to 30.
- Some games may exhibit stutter intermittently during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
- Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may experience a system crash or TDR when performing multiple task switches using Alt+Tab.
- Desktop or In-game corruption may occur intermittently when HDR is enabled.
- Direct ML Media Filters are currently unavailable in Radeon Software Media gallery for video or image content.
- Some users may still experience black screen or system hang issues during extended periods of gameplay. AMD will continue to monitor and investigate reports of these issues closely.
- Some laptops may encounter a BSOD when installing Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition over an existing OEM graphics driver. To work around this issue, first uninstall the OEM graphics driver using Programs and Features within the Control Panel. Once complete, install the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition package and select the Factory Reset option during setup.

Could have sworn I had the path to it but it seems I forgot to add it.
C:\\AMD\Packages\Drivers\Audio\HDMI\WT64A
(Or where the downloaded driver install package is extracted to if another location is specified.)
Interesting though, I had a lot of problems with the HDMI audio component with some of the earlier AMD GPU's (7000 series, 290X and the Fury I believe it was for the GPU hardware.) though later drivers or newer hardware eventually resolved the device either not showing up at all, showing as grayed out or disabled or showing as a yellow bang with a warning or not having any drivers installed.
Should be one or sometimes even several sound devices for it plus listings under both the audio section and the sound section in the device manager too.
Config options exists for showing non-present or unavailable devices too for the device manager but that doesn't really help for getting it functional.

I don't have a changelog there.
AMD High Definition Audio Device here should be using a AMD driver 10.0.1.12 I think it's up to from early October last year.
Not sure why you said this earlier. Why and how would it use that driver version if I never installed it?

Yeah you are right, I looked at the previous posts again and you used a Asus specific vendor driver from 2018 which might be packed differently and wouldn't install these newer audio components guess I mixed it up a bit there.
Also tried looking up when that change from AMD to drop Windows 8 went into effect but curiously AMD seems to have stripped the Windows 8 download options from even the earlier drivers like the 2017 sets.
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-17-12-1
(Change appears to have been done around March 2018)
Although even with no driver installed since the hardware is still physically present the device manager should still have a entry for it but it might be displayed as a unknown device (A white question mark icon I believe.) or it's grayed out or some other issue which in that case would either have it using a generic Microsoft OS driver or something from AMD if the installer included this component although if that worked it probably would show up as normal.
I'm guessing the existing HD Audio device that does show might be the Realtek audio hardware.
From a command-line window it might be possible to see these by using "set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1"
Then followed by devmgmt.msc
Which should open the device manager, from there at the top of this the "view" tab and then ticking the option to show hidden devices might work to find the one for AMD's HD Audio device and hopefully get it to accept the driver through manual installation.
EDIT: It gets a bit cumbersome and I have no idea why AMD complicated things if the installer just won't work at all now with Windows 8 systems.
Which from how people were using the Win7 driver package far as I've been reading about it at least used to work at some point to keep the GPU driver and related components updated.
(Even if AMD provided little official support for Windows 8 and 8.1 after their change and dropping these driver packages entirely.)
EDIT: 17.7.1 it seems has one final entry for 8.1 support.
Posts I found while searching for it were dated around March 2018 but that must have been implemented earlier then.
Doesn't matter much it's a bit too old anyway but I tried to go through the drivers and see if I could find any with 8 or 8.1 support.

No, I have a separate Realtek High Definition Device, the AMD HDMI output is the one I mentioned (High Definition Audio Device). Sorting devices by connection makes it clear.
And to that I get the "driver is up to date" message, which is obviously nonsense...

If that's true, it should still support RX580 which was marketed a some months before, right?

I only have "High Definition Audio Device" here, which windows claimed was up to date... And the realtek device of the mobo.
What? Where? I don't follow you.
