The download package contains the files needed for installing the Samsung NVMe (non-volatile memory express) driver. While there is no absolute need to install a driver but Samsung does offer a dedicated NVMe driver for optimal compatibility and performance. Through the use of the Samsung NVMe Driver it becomes possible for example to operate the 960 EVO under Windows 7. We HIGHLY recommend you use the Samsung NVME driver as it does offer better performance, in certain conditions the EVO is even faster than a PRO model without the NVME driver.
