Team Group MP33  NVMe SSD(512 GB)

On the 30th of September, Team Group announced its MP33 NVme SSD, boasting features like PCIe Gen3 x4 high-speed interface. We had the opportunity to test the 512 GB model. The MP33 is an SSD with a storage capacity of 128 GB/256 GB /512GB/1 TB, and also a 2 TB option. The drive uses the NVMe 1.3 protocol and, according to the manufacturer, this series achieves read speeds of up to 1800 MB/s, and write speeds of up to 1500 MB/s. The TBW values for this SSD are between 100 TB for the 128 GB version, and up to 1000 TB for the 2 TB version. It’s a budget-oriented drive. You can fit it into your laptops, (no heatsink attached), as long as they support PCIe M.2 drives with a length of 80mm. It's a model from the same MP series like MP34 which we reviewed back in April.

The new model is offered with capacities ranging from 128 GB to 2 TB. Each of these options has different specifications:

  • 128 GB: up to 1,500 MB / s in reading and up to 500 MB/s in sequential writing. Up to 90 K random read IOPS and 100 K IOPS in random write. The maximum life of your NAND Flash memory cells is 100 TBW.
  • 256 GB : up to 1,600 MB/s in reading and up to 1,000 MB / s in sequential writing. Up to 160 K random read IOPS and 200 K IOPS in random write. The maximum life of your NAND Flash memory cells is 200 TBW.
  • 512 GB : up to 1,700 MB/s in reading and up to 1,400 MB / s in sequential writing. Up to 220 K random read IOPS and 200 K IOPS in random write. The duration of your NAND Flash memory cells is 400 TBW.
  • 1 TB : up to 1,800 MB/s in reading and up to 1,500 MB / s in sequential writing. Up to 220 K IOPS in reading and 200 K IOPS in random writing. Its duration is estimated at around 600 TBW
  • 2 TB : up to 1,800 MB/s in reading and up to 1,500 MB / s in sequential writing. Up to 220 K IOPS in reading and 200 K IOPS in random writing. Its duration is estimated at around 1,000 TBW.

These SSDs have been fitted with TLC NAND (64-layer), and they follow the NVMe form factor. Team Group offers a decent 5-year warranty (info from the manufacturer's website) on this product. OK, let’s have a closer look at the MP33 model, shall we?
