Patriot Viper Gaming RGB (2 x 8 GB) 3200 MHz DDR4
An aesthetic and fast RGBeast?

We review all-new Viper Gaming RGB 16 GB (dual channel) 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM kit from Patriot. It’s not the fastest in their new series but still looks very reasonable with a proper price & perf ratio. It should be also possible to overclock these DIMMs a bit further, so – why not have a look at that? Simply put, Viper Gaming RGB looks very cool with RGB implementation, and it’s good that an XMP 2.0 memory profile for Intel is available as well of course.

When it comes to PCs, especially in our realm, Gaming is the thing that is what it is all about in the market now. Many types of parts and accessories usually sell better, when they’re marked and marketed directed towards gamers. Part of that is RGB, which is very trendy, but most definitely can increase the already high price of memory kit. Almost every manufacturer introduced RAM with some kind of lighting. The first one in the market was G.Skill with their TridentZ RGB series, then the others have been and are Corsair, Team Group, Geil and Ballistix. Patriot didn’t want to be too far behind, as HyperX and others want to have a piece of the market too. High-end enthusiasts will definitely have a look at the Patriot Viper RGB kit. Patriot Viper RGB Series was designed for extreme performance, even 4133 MHz modules are available. RGB lighting included 5 different lighting zones – all fully customizable through Viper RGB software. Have a peek at the photo below:

Right, let's first tick some boxes, yes .. Patriot Viper RGB is compatible with:

  • Asrock PolyChrome RGB Sync
  • Asus AURA Sync
  • Gigabyte RGB Fusion
  • MSI Mystic Light Sync
DDR4 memory modules on the market are in different segments, but these Patriots definitely belong to the upper-end. Warranty for these DIMMs is set at a lifetime. This memory is optimized for both Intel, and AMD platforms. Normally we'd recommend you to look at the QVL list for the motherboard and proc support, that's one thing that Patriot lacks on their website though. We hope to see that improved soon, as you do not want to gamble on compatibility with your expensive purchases.

For our test, Patriot supplied a dual (2x 8GB) black DDR4 kit rated at 3200 MHz with a typical (for this frequency) CL16 latency. Their products start at 2666 MHz with CL15, but also includes 3000 CL16, the reviewed 3200 CL16 and then there are (only available in black version) 3600 CL16 (very nice), and last, but not least 4133 CL19. All in 2x 8GB kits. Next page, please.

Patriot Viper Steel RGB 3600 MHz (2x 16GB) review
Today, we are looking at Patriot Viper Steel RGB 3600 MHz CL20 (yes – 20!) memory in a 32 GB set consisting of two 16 GB modules. I can say that we’ve had our fair share of experience with Patriot RAM. We had an opportunity to test a similarly clocked kit (3600 MHz) from the Viper Steel series (so no RGB there), but the capacity was 2 x 32 GB back then, and the latencies were quite surprisingly better, at 18-22-22-42. Before that, we also reviewed one of the fastest 2 x 8 GB kits in the range, clocked at 4000 MHz with CL19 latency.

Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 3600 MHz (64GB) review
Today, we are looking at Patriot Viper Steel 3600 MHz CL18 memory in a 64 GB set consisting of two 32 GB modules. At the beginning of 2019, we had an opportunity to check a higher-clocked kit from that series (4000 MHz), but the capacity was 2 x 8 GB. Patriot’s Viper Steel Series is offered at speeds ranging from 3000 MHz up to 4400 MHz, with XMP 2.0 support.
