MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic keyboard
Is it going to make your gaming experience (super)sonic?

Today's review is of the MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic keyboard. This is not the first time we've received a peripheral from this manufacturer; for example, the GK80 was inspected nearly four years ago. MSI offers a diverse range of keyboards (15 models/variants) in general (at the time of this model's release). That is true, but what does the new one have to offer? The first thing that comes to mind are the MSI SONIC RED switches. It is the outcome of a close partnership between Kailh and MSI. These linear switches are designed to respond instantly, reducing finger strain and improving comfort and ergonomics during gaming sessions. This is where you'll discover the Smart Dual-Touch Volume and Media Control. It enables easy control of your media using the volume wheel on the top or side, as well as the dedicated media key. Concerning the more conventional (?) aspects - a memory foam palm rest has been incorporated for increased comfort.

What’s more? MSI ClearCaps feature a transparent dual-layer design that allows light through for vivid and stunning per-key RGB illumination. It’s customized MSI Mystic Light software or using the shortcuts on the keyboard itself. You also get the Hybrid N+6 Key Rollover - VIGOR GK71 SONIC can automatically detect the current pressed number and switch to 6 key or N key rollover that fight on without fear of missing or unexpected key presses. Why would you need that? In certain situations, you have to use 6-key rollover mode. Otherwise, your system will not recognize your key press, such as mac OS, older computer systems, older BIOS, or older operating systems. Finally, we find here onboard storage; it’s possible to save up to three profiles (including Setting, Effects, Macro Keys, while switching profiles via MSI Center) and 30 macros.

The Vigor GK71 Sonic is constructed from a robust and durable aluminum finish. You will save room on your desk due to its compact design. ABS is used for the keycaps. While the PBT would provide greater durability, the direct (and considerably more expensive) rival also lacks the PBT. The braided USB cable that comes with the device is not detachable and measures 1.8 meters in length. The keyboard is available for purchase starting at 109.99 USD EUR. On the next pages, we'll examine the MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic.

The MSI Vigor GK50 Low Profile TKL keyboard is the one we’re reviewing today. Another week, another MSI keyboard (previously, it was the Vigor GK71 Sonic). This time around, a TKL version of the model has been available for some time on the market. The GK50 Low Profile is the name of it. So what are the differences here? As you’d probably know by yourself, mainly it’s the lack of the numeric part of the keyboard. Tenkeyless form factor provides a wider and larger space for your mouse swipes for the ideal gaming setup.
