Minisforum HM80
A super compact 15x15x5.5cm Formfactor MiniPC

Small, smaller, smallest; meet the Minisforum tiny yet powerful HM80.

A low-power PC that is so small that you can mount this fully fetched Windows 10 Ready PC behind your monitor, heck it will even fit in the palm of your hands. yeah, the heir to the Ryzen 5 4500U-powered MINISFORUM HM50 is now available as the HM80. Armed with a more robust Ryzen 7 4800U processor, alongside 16/256 GB or 32/512 GB of memory/storage. The prices of these two configurations, after the US$100 early-bird discount, are US$759 and US$829. We test the 16GB/256GB version, a PC that comes with duo Ethernet jacks incl 2.5 Gigabit/s, AX WIFI, Bluetooth USB3, HDMI DisplayPort, an NVMe SSD, and 16GB Dual channel DRAM. The SoC, or better yet, APU empowering this unit, is a Ryzen 7 4800U, and that's an 8-core 16-threaded processor with embedded graphics. The PC is equipped with an NVMe SSD (256GBN), and 2x 8GB of LPDDR4 rated at 3200 MHz. With idle power consumption at close to 10 Watts, this thing is just so much fun; you will be surprised to see what this product offers. This base model, as tested thus, has eight physical CPU cores, which's a sixteen-threaded Ryzen processor. HM80 features Radeon Vega graphics. HM80 comes with Windows 10 Pro already installed and licensed.

The end-users interested in a product like this need to be found in the SOHO, Net PC, or HTPC space. The HM80, with its petite size, will fit anywhere, and pre-installed with Windows 10 Pro, is it fast enough for normal web browsing, office applications like Word and Excell. Still, sure, even some simplistic work with Photoshop is not even a slight problem. Weight? Get this, (500g). The HM80 does not have the fastest processor compared to desktop standards, but it does offer plenty of performance for everyday PC usage. Next, to that, you can easily hide this unit behind your monitor or HDTV. With that in mind, this easily can be a product that accelerates and post processes high definition movies and music; preferably, the content is streamed over a network. And that's where we land at net-tops and mini-tops. Personally, when on the road, I do not really like to work on a laptop; taking this along and hooking it up over HDMO to a TV in the hotel room works well; just add a keyboard and mouse, and you're good to go.  We can think of plenty of usage scenarios for sure. Anyway, let's have a peek at what we review today:

It is wise to know that this unit is fully HDMI 2.0 and DP capable as a tiny PC. The embedded GPU that houses inside the processor is fast enough to decode and accelerate Full HD video content perfectly; heck, I'll take it up a notch as it is even capable of 3840x2160 video playback 60 Hz. The unit has one Gigabit Ethernet jack and a 2.5 Gigabit jack, and fully fetched AX WiFi. HM80 has USB 3.0 Port×4 (The Back), USB 3.1 Port×2(Gen2, In Front). We'll test the 8-core version, armed with 16GB memory and 256 GB NVMe storage.
