Galax HOF OC Lab Water Cooling 4400 MHz CL19 review - Introduction

Galax HOF OC Lab Water Cooling DDR4 4400 MHz CL19 16 GB (2x 8 GB)
Hall of Fame of the RAM

Today, we are checking the Galax HOF OC Lab Water Cooling 4400 MHz CL19. It was instead some GPUs (or SSDs) that we got a chance to look at from this company. That’s definitely the high-end of the RAM that you can see on the market. The 16 GB kit we got is a limited edition (and our sample is the 2nd from 50 pieces) and consists of two 8 GB modules. What’s so special about it? Well, capacity is not the main factor. So what is? The combo of the frequency and the timings. You don’t necessarily see the 4400 MHz kits with CL19 latency using a relatively low voltage of 1.4V, correct? And it’s not something like 19-25-25-45 but a straight 19’s, meaning 19-19-19-39. That’s top of the top!

What else do you get here? Well - the heatsink is made of aluminum. This piece of metal is a high-quality CNC one, so the best performance is to be expected.

But that’s not all – you also get the CNC acrylic top cover (with 5V aRGB lighting) and, what’s most important, the water block with a mirror-polished copper base. The mentioned Addressable RGB lighting can be controlled via the Asus Aura, MSI Dragon Center, Asrock Polychrome Sync, and Gigabyte RGB Fusion software used for their motherboards.

That’s not all. The PCB has ten layers, the memory chips used here are the Samsung B-Die’s (hand-picked), and you also get the 10µm gold-plated connection. What else can we say about this product line? At the moment, you can only see the 4000 MHz on the Galax webpage (which has CL 19-25-25-45, so worse than the reviewed 4400 MHz version). There’s no other variant listed. Galax states that the kits are compatible with the Intel XMP 2.0 (Extreme Memory Profile). The provided review sample consists of two 8 GB modules with a frequency of 4400 MHz CL19 (the exact timings are 19-19-19-39 at a voltage of 1.4 V). The parameters are excellent, so are the looks. We need to check how’s the performance looks like. This time around, we’re going to check the kit on two platforms (so no change here). The AMD X470 is the same as in the previous reviews, but now instead of the Z390 Asus motherboard paired with Intel Core i9 9900K – we’re going to use the Z590 together with Intel Core i9 10850K. We are traditionally still going to try and squeeze something more out of it, so maybe the standard 4400 MHz (which is already very high) is not the last word here (or at least we might manage to fine-tune the latencies). If you prefer, you can always stay on the safe side and stick to the advertised frequency and latencies using XMP. A limited lifetime warranty backs the HOF OC Lab Water Cooling series. The MSRP is not the case here, as it’s a very limited series. Only 50 pieces were done (8 GBx2, 4400MHz). The price was ~350 EUR. Ok, next page, please.
