Corsair Scimitar Elite RGB gaming mouse review - Final words and conclusion

Final words and conclusion

The SCIMITAR RGB ELITE is the next step in the Scimitar series upgrade cycle. This time, it has received a better sensor (18K DPI), it’s lighter (122 g instead of 147 g), and comes with Omron (L/R) buttons rated for 50 million clicks. In a nutshell, these are the biggest changes. The mouse feels good, fast, and responsive. The four RGB zones look good and are easily adjustable in iCUE software. This model targets MOBA/MMO gamers, which is why it’s got 12 buttons on the side (and they can be moved easily). pretty much, with this mouse, you just don’t need any G keys on your keyboard with that. Onboard, this mouse has the Pixart PMW3391 sensor, which works flawlessly here. It’s possible to adjust the DPI up to 18000. The mouse is connected via a USB cable (braided) that’s 1.8 m long. The buttons provide nice feedback when pressed, and offer a very good response.

The Verdict

For 79.99 USD, you get a very high-end, 18K DPI, wired gaming mouse that is aimed at the MOBA/MMO crowd (stay away from it, FPS players). It’s a bit bulky, so you better check if it fits your hand. If you get used to the shape, you’ll likely find it very comfortable. The hardware of the mouse is excellent, and you get 17 programmable buttons (including DPI selection), and a plethora of RGB effects for 4 zones. The lighting effects look great, and it’s all controlled via iCUE software. The build quality and ergonomics are awesome, and the cable is braided. What more could you request? Well, in fact, there is something – the side buttons should be crisper and have a more tactile feeling, like the main ones. Also, the scroll could be smoother. Maybe that’s an idea for some Pro, Elite, MEGA version? For the money (cost the same price as the predecessor, the PRO version), you receive a complete and precise gaming mouse. Not a “Top pick”, as it’s a product for a rather limited audience (not suitable for everyone – yeah again I am looking at you FPS players), but yeah, recommended by Guru3D.com as for it's the purpose and target demographic it is unique and very suitable.
