Asus ROG STRIX XG43UQ monitor review
XXL gaming in HDR1000 at144 Hz(43 inches)

This review will put the ROG STRIX XG43UQ through its paces. Ultra HD, HDR1000, a 144Hz panel, and one very big-screen 43in gaming monitors to include HDMI 2.1 are all features of this monitor. It is yours for a little less than 1500 EUR/USD, but is it worth that money?

A while ago the ASUS ROG Strix XG43UQ has made an appearance on a number of online retailers' websites. This 4K monitor has a refresh rate of 144Hz and two HDMI 2.1 ports, making it an excellent choice for gamers on PC as well as console.  The monitor is equipped with a VA panel with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 frames per second. The response time stated is one millisecond. The display is compatible with the VESA's Adaptive-Sync standard, which allows it to work with both FreeSync and G-Sync technologies. The display has also been certified for FreeSync Pro Premium, among other technologies. The screen also carries a DisplayHDR 1000 certification which includes local dimming (edge-lit with a limited number of zones), 1000 cd/m2 peak brightness spec, wide colour gamut and 10-bit colour depth support.

A wide color gamut embracing 90 percent of DCI-P3 and 125 percent of sRGB is provided by the 43.4-inch VA technology panel with 3840 x 2160 resolution, 1ms MPRT response time, 4000 contrast ratio, 1000 cd/m2 peak brightness (HDR), 178/178 viewing angles, and 10-bit color depth. With the DisplayPort 1.4 connection, Display Stream Compression (DSC) is employed to provide for a full 4K @ 144Hz resolution without the need to reduce color depth or chroma levels in any way. It will also be possible to connect the latest generation gaming consoles at 4K @ 120Hz thanks to the newly added 2x HDMI 2.1 connections, which will have adequate bandwidth to accomplish the same. Additionally, the XG43UQ supports ELMB in addition to a configurable refresh rate. This technique, which is a type of backlight strobing, should help to lessen the amount of motion blur.

Next to the two HDMI 2.1 ports (and two HDMI 2.0 connectors) on the back of the television. ASUS has also included a DisplayPort 1.4 connection with display stream compression (DSC), which is required for 4k display at 144Hz without decreasing the color depth, according to the company. The ASUS ROG Strix XG43UQ also has two USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio connector, and two inbuilt 10W speakers, in addition to the other features listed above. In order to accommodate the screen's dimensions, the supplied monitor stand cannot be adjusted in height; however, it can be mounted with a VESA 100mm bracket. The product is appealing to the eyes, at the front you'll notice a somewhat standard ROG design, but then the backside looks fresh in all white.

The Asus ROG Azoth keyboard is the one we’re reviewing today. The last one from Asus ROG I had my hands on was the Claymore II (in 2021, a wireless 100% keyboard that earned a “Recommended” award). This time it’s the 75% form factor wireless keyboard initially shown at the CES 2023. What we’ll find interesting about this product? It’s not using the Cherry MX switches. Still, the custom-made ASUS ROG ROG NX (hot-swappable, pre-lubricated) switches are offered here, aimed at gamers and professionals.
