ASUS Maximus V Extreme review 5

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/19/2012 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]

We review the ASUS Maximus V Extreme. There is a kind of people that feel enough is not enough, they want moar' and for exactly that kind of enthusiast end user ASUS creates ROG EXTREME products. This is a ROG (Republic of Gamers) motherboard, and that means extra enthusiast features alright, as for overclockers, here's where things start to get serious, the board is designed with a 12-phase Digi+ VRM, Subzero Sense, has voltage-measurement points and the ROG Connect technology (overclock the board via Bluetooth from their phone). And yes there's still more, ASUS throws in the OC Key as well, which creates an overlay on the active DVI monitor to adjust overclock settings in real-time without using additional software or hardware (it connects to the graphics card DVI port). The ASUS Maximus V Extreme just breathes overclock potential.

ECS X79R-AX Extreme review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/23/2011 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today we take a look at the new motherboard from ECS, the X79R-AX Extreme. We'll throw in a decent photo-shoot and a benchmark suite at the product and get an indication what performance is like with the Intel Core i7-3960X (Sandy Bridge-E). Admittedly I was a little shocked when the motherboard arrived, as it is probably the most feature rich X79 motherboard we've had in our labs. Read article

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/13/2011 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]

The ROG team this time went wild, releasing a motherboard with all the features that last-gen motherboards should have such as USB 3.0 connectivity, Bluetooth, eSATA connectors, SATA 6.0Gbps, and 7.1 channel audio, but the real x-factor of the Rampage IV Extreme can only be found when we look at its overclocking features. Head on over to the next page where we'll discuss the X79 chipset, the respective ASUS model. Then will throw a decent photo-shoot and a benchmark suite at the products and get an indication what performance is like with the Intel Core i7-3960X (Sandy Bridge-E) and X79 Platform.

ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 09/05/2011 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
ASUS completed its range of Z68 products as well, and the one that rules them all is probably the board as tested today. The Republic of Gamers team applied their typical bunch of lovin' and sweetness to the motherboard, driving the feature count up and the tweaking performance to new heights. Yes, the Maximus IV Extreme-Z Intel Z68 motherboard has arrived at the Guru3D test grounds all the way up the highlands of Holland. Read article

Mach Xtreme DS Turbo 120GB SSD review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 08/23/2011 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today we look at an offering from Mach Technology (MX technology), they added no less than four new SATA 3 (SATA 3 6Gs) SSDs in their MX DS Turbo lineup, in 120GB, 180, 240GB and even 480MB capacities, all SATA 3 of course. The SSD drives come with that already prominent SandForce SF-2281 controller to deliver up to 555 MBps read and 510 MBps write speeds (when peaking). Read article

MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning Xtreme edition review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/30/2011 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
When we tested the GeForce GTX 580 Lightning from MSI roughly a month ago, we stated that the product might become product of the year, it really is that good. But little this I know about an Xtreme edition that MSI still had in the works. Armed with color changing fans and 3GB of memory MSI raises the bar once again. Read article

ASUS Maximus III Extreme review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/23/2010 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
We test the ASUS Maximus III Extreme. ASUS added a new P55 motherboard in the Republic of Gamers series motherboards, yes the Maximus III Extreme has arrived in our labs. The Maximus III Extreme is what I feel is one of the best tweaker / gamer P55 motherboards currently available in the market. Maximus III extreme will endear itself to PC enthusiasts and gamers. It supports a maximum of 16GB DDR3 memory, and has a stunning five PCIe (x16) slots: which supports single, dual, triple, and quad graphics card configurations, and supports both nVidia’s SLI and ATI’s Crossfire for the same. To get it some additional PCIe bandwidth we spot an NF200 bridge chip. It also supports USB 3.0, SATA 6G, and on-board 10-channel audio. Oh and did I mention you can overclock through Bluetooth on your Smartphone already ? Read article

Zalman CNPS 10X Quiet and Extreme review 1

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/23/2009 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Zalman recently released a new series of CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System ) heatpipe based coolers. The new 10X coolers include five nice big heatpipes being cooled by a grotesque120mm fan. The PWM Fan comes with RPM Control which allows you to fine tune the cooler to your specific cooling requirements. And all that in a nice design and not too huge (in dimension) sized cooler. We will put two out of the three to the test namely the CNPS10X Extreme and CNPS10X Quiet. Both coolers impressed us a lot. Read article

Accelero Xtreme 4870 X2 review | test

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/19/2009 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Recently one of the more interesting product released in their VGA cooler lineup is the all new Accelero XTREME 4780X2 cooler. It is a massive eight heatpipe based cooler that might be as big as a whale, yet is virtually silent and has extraordinary cooling performance. If you are gutsy enough to strip down the X2 and mount a this cooler, then you can achieve temperatures that are roughly 30 degrees C lower than I've just mentioned, right out of the box. SmoothCreations Neptune Xtreme Machine

Listen up buttercup, King Neptune just mopped the floor. What I thought was going to be a custom case review turned out to a full-on bad-ass PC system to review. OK, I'm game. While it might not be the ultimate to the hardcore, SmoothCreations built an awesome machine, worthy of praise and attention. Read article

Freezer Xtreme Arctic Cooler CPU cooler review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/20/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The unit submitted is the Artic Cooling Freezer Xtreme, which can cool the latest AMD and Intel processors. Something changed on the design though, as they did something pretty radical. They shaped this four heatpipe based product in an "U" form and then placed the ventilator right smack down in the middle. It's but interesting none-the-less. The new Freezer Xtreme will feature an unique twin tower design and it will be able to achieve a stunning 160W of cooling capacity. Read article

Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCIe

Posted by: Brann Mitchell on: 03/03/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Bordering on false advertisement, Creative's latest X-Fi isn't an X-Fi at all, it's a new rev of the Audigy series using the X-Fi drivers and gliding on the PCI Express bus. The EAX gaming enhancements are gone, however, in favor of the more usable Crystallizer and CMSS3D functions. The X-Audio does provide a good value with decent performance, stability, and last but not least, is does sound good. Read article

Galaxy Geforce 8800 GT HDMI w/ Xtreme Tuner

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/13/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Our initial review of this product was taken offline as we received an early version of the product. This early version had a "beta" cooler on it that made a truck-load of noise. Galaxy claimed to have a new cooler ready and asked if if we could revise the review based on the new and final cooler. And therefore we have updated this initial article to revision 2; based on new facts with the final cooling solution implemented. And it sure is a lot better. Read article

Arctic Accelero Xtreme 2900 VGA cooler review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/09/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The Accelero Xtreme features with 5 heatpipes, 107 fins and 3 power managed fans. The design has been improved for optimized air flow design obviously to cool effectively, which according to Arctic is up to 240 Watt heat dissipation; that's quite a lot. They claim to can dramatically bring down the heat from GPU at least 20ºC lower than the stock cooler. Well .. let's slap a Radeon 2900 XT on it and see how well it does the job then. Read article

Core 2 Extreme QX9770 Quad-Core review

A couple of days ago we received a phone call from Intel with the question if we wanted to test an even faster Penryn CPU. Well, you know me .. when it comes to enthusiast products I'm like a bitch in heat, bring it on. In that previous article we already have you a good overview of the to be released Penryn products on Q1 of the next year. One of the products in that extensive line of 45nm products, actually the one on top, is the Core 2 Extreme QX9770 Quad core processor. The cream of the crop, top notch product. Read article

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/11/2007 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
See, a Core 2 Extreme X6800 is pretty much the fastest desktop processor in the world, yet adding two more cores gives you the absolute best of both worlds. Get the highest stock clock speed Intel offers for the best performance in lightly multithreaded (or single threaded) applications, and a total of four cores for those heavy multitasking or CPU intensive multithreaded scenarios. Really, you can't lose there now can you ? Read article

X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Blaster review
