Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/15/2012 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]

We review the Antec 1000W HCP Platinum power supply. tly they submitted their all new HCP (High Current Pro) 1000W power supply. Their gold model has been selling for a year now but is replaced with this version. It was further improved and got a 80 plus Platinum certification, meaning the PSU can pimp and show off its most efficient power supply label available in this bizz.

OCZ releases the ZT model in a three fold of models, a 550W model priced at 55 EUR, a 650 model priced at 75 EUR and a 750W model priced at 90 EUR (USD conversion is roughly similar at the moment). So you are in the market for an affordable PSU, want a modular design and want bang for buck ? Well, the new ZT series from OCZ seems to do the job quite well. Read article

Enermax Platimax 850W power supply review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 09/20/2011 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Enermax always is able surprise us, they now have released the Platimax power supplies, that means a platinum certification and yeah .. that boils down to a 94% efficient product. Very few products get this certification. Today we'll grab a couple of older older supplies and see if what they claim is true, can we really save on energy. We fire off three PSU's at a P55 / Core i7 870 based system setup with a GeForce GTX 590. We then monitor power consumption in idle, CPU productivity (stress) mode and then lock into a gaming session. Read article

BFG EX 1200 Power Supply review | test

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/22/2009 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
A test on the BFG EX-1200. Last week BFG dropped a mail if we wanted to test their all new BFG 1200 Watt EX power supply. A power supply that is silent, efficient, has long cabling, is pure quality, has an ATX size chassis, is completely themed dark and perhaps after all these years might be able to replace my kilowatt PSUs. As what BFG is bringing to the table is comforting. This 1200 Watt piece of machinery is fairly close to what I consider perfection in terms of design and requirements .. and with a price just under 250 USD BFG might have something really special on their hands. And that my friends makes it very interesting. Read article

OCZ ModXtream PRO 600 Watt power supply review

A test on the OCZ ModXtream PRO 600 Watt power supply. A very energy efficient power supply that not only looks good, is modular .. and pretty much inaudible to the ears. It's called the ModXtream Pro, is SLI certified, comes in a nice black modular design and we'll take a look at the 600 Watt version of it. Read article

Hiper Type R Mk-II 680W power supply

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/01/2008 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
A new review at Guru3D. One PSU that certainly will catch your attention is the one we'll be testing for Hiper (High Performance group) today. it's their 680Watt Type RII 680 Watt PSU. A product that costs roughly 120-130 bucks. This PSU immediately will catch your attention die to it's original packaging, the extremely 'out there' paint job and then .. when you look at the front side of the PSU, you'll spot 8 USB connectors. And all that is it next to being an actual PSU. Read article

Tuniq Miniplant 950 Watt Power Supply review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 03/19/2008 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Recently Tuniq (part of Sunbeamtech) released a trio of power supplies. The Ensemble comes in 1200 and 1000 Watt versions, and their lower specced Miniplant is only a 950 Watt animal. Despite the fact that the PSU can suck up 950 Watts, this actually is an energy friendly product .. it has everything to do with it's high efficiency topping out at 80%+, no worries though, we'll explain and demonstrate that over the next view pages. FSP recently released a 800 and 1010 Watt high-end power supply in e(re)tial. The PSU's have a good feature set with active PFC, short-protection (OCP/SCP) and enough connectivity for the latest high-end components in your system, including PCI-Express 2.0 8 pin 12 volt rails (4 of them with 20 AMPs each meaning that this PSU is SLI, three-way SLI or CrossFireX ready. SilverStone 750 Watt ATX Power Supply

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/26/2006 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today we will have a look at the Zeus 750 Watt continuous power supply from Silverstone. A really awe-inspiring power supply with four (yes four) +12 Volts rails and which is also an SLI ready power supply. We'll put it to the test buy using our quad SLI setup. The new Zeus is cool, literally, as up to 750W it'll maintain a temperature of 50°C. You get 60 AMPs combined (over 700W) for these four +12V rails alone, making the ST75ZF capable of powering any top of the line system available today and the near future. Read article

Nextherm PSU460 Power Supply

Posted by: George Panayiotou on: 06/12/2006 07:00 AM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The power supply unit is the part of the computer that most people buy without thinking or researching about it and by only looking at the wattage number. The Power Supply is actually a crucial part of the whole system as that is responsible for providing with the electronics with a constant, steady and clean current for them to be able to function without any hiccups. Also, the wattage number on a power supply is almost always a misleading number. A buyer must check with the total combined wattage that can be provided and not the peak number. Also, what are most important are the amps the PSU can provide. Read article

This PSU is the successor to the original X-Connect and Ultra is hoping it's going to be just as successful. This PSU will appeal to all the majority of the modding freaks out there as it has a flashy look to it, windows, blue illumination and a modular cable system. There aren't too many PSUs out there that can boast such features. Read article

Suffice to say that the most of us would like to quickly test a PSU before installing it, or after you smelled a burning sensation originating from that PSU, and want to investigate. Here's where Casebuy comes in. For a few bucks you can buy this little EZ Power Supply Tester 2. Honestly the name says it all .. it does exactly that and nothing more. Read article
