G.Skill TridentZ 5 DDR5 5600 CL36 review

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 03/15/2022 05:04 PM [ 10 comment(s) ]

G.Skill has prepared very well for launching a new memory standard and has presented three DDR5 series: the Trident Z5 (5600-6400 MHz), the Trident Z5 RGB (the same range as the non-RGB’s), and the Ripjaws S5 (5200-5600 MHz). They all come in 32 GB kits (2x 16 GB), and their frequency is higher than the base 4800 MHz. Today, we are checking the G.Skill TridentZ5 5600 MHz CL36 DDR5 kit. It’s not the high-end of the series, as even the 6400 MHz CL32 are available, and the 5600 MHz is the lowest frequency you can get from this DDR5 family.

G.Skill Z5i (Mini ITX) chassis review 4

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 12/21/2021 04:35 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]

This time, we're checking out the G.Skill Z5i, the first chassis from a company known the most from the RAM. Some can remember that there's an AIO (Enki) available, as well as the keyboards (like KM360), mice (and mousepad), headsets, or PSUs. The attempt is made in a not-so-popular segment, meaning the Mini-ITX (so that's one of the reasons for the mentioned limit). This choice is a brave one as it's not so easy to create a good product here. Yes, it's gaining the share, but the ATX is dominating (maybe we'll also see something from G.Skill?).

G.Skill Enki 360 LCS liquid cooler review 4

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 03/11/2021 04:07 PM [ 17 comment(s) ]

Today, we are reviewing an AIO cooler from G.Skill: the Enki 360. It’s a debut for this brand in that sector, just like with Lian Li in July ’20. As for the name, Enki is the ancient Sumerian god of water, so that’s not a bad idea for this kind of product. We’ve received a 360 mm variant of this LCS, but there’s also a 240 mm and a 280 mm version, in case your chassis can’t fit the largest one (no pun intended) or if you’re on a tighter budget.

G.Skill TridentZ Royal DDR4 4000 MHz CL17 (4x 8GB) review 5

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 11/11/2020 03:11 PM [ 28 comment(s) ]

Today, we are looking at G.Skill TridentZ Royal 4000 MHz CL17 memory in a 32 GB set consisting of four 8 GB modules. At the end of 2018, we had an opportunity to check a lower-clocked kit from that series (3200 MHz), but the capacity was 2 x 8 GB back then.

G.Skill KM360 Keyboard Review 4

Posted by: Krzysztof Hukalowicz on: 10/18/2019 01:23 PM [ 6 comment(s) ]

The G.Skill brand is known especially for offering DRAM, but they also have SSDs, headsets, mice and even power supplies in their product range. On the 21st of August , they announced a new gaming keyboard with RGB backlighting, the KM360. It will be the next (fourth) model in the brand’s gaming series, which includes not only keyboards, but also mice and headsets

We review on the G.Skill Ripjaws MX780 RGB mouse, the device is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing with configurable RGB LEDs and has a grip that is intensely impressive. The mouse weighs has an adjustable palm-rest and is programmable, has additional thumb game buttons (programmable as well). Oh hey, and has magnetic left and right-hand side removable thumb grips.

G.SKILL RipJaws KM570 MX mechanical keyboard review 4

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/10/2016 10:23 AM [ 8 comment(s) ]

We review the KM570 MX mechanical keyboard from the G.Skill gaming series. The unit is affordable and has been fitted with Cherry MX (in our case) red switches. It is a keyboard that offers value for money and doesn't go all berserk with LED activity. Just subtle red back-lit keys and if you want to, you can animate them.

G.Skill Sniper 8GB CL7 DDR3 memory review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/05/2011 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
G.Skill designed another 8GB low voltage DDR3 kit (2x 4GB) that can be set at 1600 MHz yet still run a CAS latency of 7. And that is truly interesting because the denser the ICs get, the higher latency typically gets. Read article

G.Skill 2x4GB CL7 1600 MHz Trident DDR3 review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/25/2010 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
We feel that more memory is rather important, and in that trend memory manufacturers have started to increase the density of DIMM modules. Where 1 and 2GB DIMM modules have been the standard, we now see very good progress in 4 GB DIMM modules. Today we\'ll do things a little different, G.Skill designed a 8GB low voltage DDR3 kit (2x 4GB) that can be set at 1600 MHz yet still run a CAS latency of 7. And that is truly interesting because the denser the ICs get, the higher latency typically gets. Read article

G.Skill Phoenix PRO 120GB SSD review 3

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/29/2010 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
The SSD tested today once again is the Phoenix series from G.Skill. After we tested their 100GB Phoenix SSD (which received a very positive review) G.Skill instantly requested if we would like to review the 120GB PRO model. Both drives pretty much are the same thing, same controller ... The 100GB Phoenix uses Samsung memory though but the trick is that there is 20GB extra volume space available on the new 120GB Pro (compared to the 100GB model) for nearly the same price. A new Firmware for the SandForce 1200 based controller that is inside this 120GB model simply reserves less NAND flash memory for its data-compression scheme. As a result the overall write performance could be a tiny bit slower, but only a few percent as best. It however will give you 20 GB more space to play around with at the same price. And since price per GB is everything in the land of SSDs -- this certainly is a significant for any vendor and for you as an end-user. Read article

G.Skill Phoenix 100GB SSD review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/15/2010 02:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Ever since a year or two every now and then this relatively small company G.Skill rears it's head and bam .. show a really impressive product, always at a sharp price compared to the competition. We love their DDR memory products, we liked their SSD range and recently G.Skill added yet another SSD into the product line. it is called the Phoenix SSD and it is armed with that much discussed SandForce1200 based controller. G.Skill DDR3 2200 MHz C7 PI memory review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 12/20/2009 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Some Memory vendors felt the need to go really extreme, and GSkill did exactly that. 2200 MHZ at CAS 7:10:10:28 1T at low voltage (1.65v). Seriously, it's one of the few memory kits we have seen we consider to be extremely uber cool. Powered by Elpida Hyper ICs G.Skill certainly tries to make a difference. Read article

G.Skill Falcon II 128GB SSD review

Posted by: Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 02/21/2010 03:00 PM [ 0 comment(s) ]
Today we test a product from G.Skill. Their newly released SSD is called the Falcon II which is a follow up of the original Falcon Solid State Disk series. But make no mistake, it still comes with Indilinx controller, 64MB cache memory and packs a read speed of 220 MB/sec and a write speed of 150MB sec -- which makes the word 'slower' a bit of a paradox. The SSD comes with firmware revision 1819 which has full support for the TRIM-command in Windows 7. And by using that 34nm Micron NAND memory G.Skill should be able to lower the price on their Falcon product series a little as well. Read article

We test some very fine G.Skill DDR3 memory today. They recently introduced a 2000 MHz | PC3 16000 DDR3 triple channel memory kit for Core i7. Mighty impressive, nice timings and a good price. But is the high frequency memory worth the buzz ? Read article

This new SSD is MLC-based and measures in at just 2.5-inches, easily placed in a desktop PC, and obviously a perfect fit for your laptop. With a SATA II interface type and a built-in EDC/ECC protection, this G.SKILL drive is ready to handle your data for sure. The G.SKILL FM-25S2S will be in two sizes, the 64GB model and the 128GB model. So in this review we'll look at the G.Skill 64GB SSD which you can find under part number FM-25S2S-64GB at a sales price of roughly $159 (USD). Read article

G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 Triple Channel memory review

We test a 6GB DDR3 memory kit rated at 1600 MHz from the good people at G.Skill. A company that many of you don't even know, yet have been around for over 18-years. G.Skill is expanding into the European and US market though and their presence is becoming larger and more apparent quickly. Read article
