Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 - 1000W ATX 3.0 PSU review

Today we’re putting the new Seasonic Vertex GX-1000W power supply on our test bench. The company is mainly known for its PSUs (like the Prime series, which we checked, for example, the TX-1300) and the chassis (like the Arch Q503 or Syncro Q704). The Vertex series is a new one from Seasonic that was launched in September 2022, but with the availability specified for January 2023. It consists of 80 Plus Platinum or Gold efficiency and has the following wattage variants: 1200 W, 1000 W (which we’re checking in an 80 Plus version), 850 W, and 750 W.

a truly proper psu that will last several builds.
and a lot of current gen mobos have usb power delivery, certainly all of the ROG boards do as well as a lot of Gig and some MSI boards.
hell even some current gen monitors have usb power delivery. certainly not a deal-breaker for a psu...
i love that Seasonic supplies both the atx 3.0 cables as well as the traditional 6+2 pcie

Hilbert, why does this review state that it's unlikely that power usage will exceed 650w? I commented after a previous PSU review that my 10700K (in standard clocks) + a Suprim X 4090 is using 780w when playing Metro Exodus Enhanced at max quality settings. When I had an Asus Strix 3080 OC this game was using 680w. I had an Asus Thor Platinum I 850w and now the Thor II Platinum 1200w, both have accurate OLED power displays.
If I used the overclock setting in BIOS for my 10700K I'm guessing the 780w would become 820w? This is a power usage way above 650w.

They are all I use for power supplies. Waiting on their Titanium rated version then I'm upgrading. My 850w Seasonic Titanium rated PSU is right at 6 years old so it will be a good time to upgrade once they land.

Thx for nice review Hilbert.
One think I would mention I dont realy like is lack of enough EPS/PCI-e cables.connectors.
With Nvidia 4000 series its ok, but with AMD GPU it masively limitting ussage.
In my case 2x EPS for powering CPU, 3x 8pin PCI-e to power up 7900xtx and missing at least one more to power 60W USB power delivery or anything else.
