It appears that the 5500 series are a true 1080p card. If there is a 5600 I would wonder what segment they would fit as it would be between 1080 and 1440p landing in no mans land. To fast for 1080 but not enough for 1440p. IMO a mixed bag when you factor in the price. I'm sure it would be at least $100 more then the 5500.

"who exactly is the target audience?"
It is a nice card. Some have a budget. They may only go up this high. Maybe those are the target audience? LOL?
lol what? Who are you quoting? I never said those words.

One way of looking at it, I suppose...but for sure not the only. 120Hz+ displays are fairly popular these days...games are getting more demanding... Kind of odd that such things are seemingly meaningless to you. "To fast for 1080..." Eeeeek...

Indeed it is meaningless. These cards usually par up with already existing monitors. Usually they are 60hz in this segment from what I've seen.
From personal experience I've seen someone spend $400+ for a gpu vs spending $300+ for a 5600 XT then buy $250+ for a monitor, for example. Sure, there are outliers but when it comes to pc upgrading a person usually goes for gpu. Again, from what I've seen.
Therefore, for someone considering the 5600 XT with a 60hz monitor they would need to upgrade their monitor to 144hz in order to get the best out of it at 1080p. It's not to say people don't already have one. It's having to buy one along with this purchase which is disconcerting.

Those rates are "barely playable" or "nearly unplayable"? o_O
Doesn't look like a DOA release to me...
