there is no point buying previous gen over a new one, 280x is a much better choice than 7970Ghz, period.
it's even faster and cheaper than 770gtx...
Anyway, i can already feel the 699$ barrier on 290X

They're pretty much the same card. You get a fantastic bundle worth a fair chunk of money for the same price or less by going with a 7970GHZ over a 280X. Your post makes no sense.
