GSync add-on board mainly controls the panels' refresh rate; doesn't really matter if the panels are TN, IPS, or CRT (tubes).
My only worry for GSync is the panel's longevity.
Will applying variable refresh rate reduce the MTBF of the panels?
No, G-SYNC may not work IPS and CRT but recommendly you get CRT monitor (professional is good and sorry for heavy) but you find it hardly.

why?
all G Sync chip does is replace scalar inside your monitor, driving it whatever refresh rate GPU commands simple as that
Panel tech makes zero difference
I doubt it won't work on ips
