MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X TRIO review 5

MSI has stepped up to the plate with their Gaming X TRIO GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. It is factory-tweaked (slightly) but looks great. It comes with whisper-quiet cooling, and is quite impressive in all respects.

Just noticed that there are 12 cards that perform similar to the RX6600XT with only + - 10 fps in it. That's one heck of a window when looking for a best value 2nd hand card. :)
But not so good is what hardware features you need form one of those cards. :(

To be harsh though, that's got nothing to do with the 4070ti review, and also +-10fps means nothing when there is no context what the baseline fps is - instead you'd express it as +/- percentage performance which is far more useful to understand what's going on when comparing cards.

EDIT: so few comments in this thread since this review was posted two days ago - but that's cool, I suppose noone gives a rats *ss about the 4070ti as a lesser interesting card of the priced out & therefore generally irrelevant 4000 series.

So basically, you are getting 3090TI performance at half the price, with a 4070TI. It sounds great, but the cheapest 3090Ti I can find is around $1700 U.S. The MSRP for the 4070TI is $799 U.S. but we all know that is not what you will pay. Price to performance is still out of whack. In 2015 a GTX 980TI, which at the time was considered a beast of a gpu, cost $650 U.S. In today's money that is around $817. I will even concede 25% for present day labor costs and import tax and the pricing goes to $1000. That is where the RTX 4090 MSRP pricing should have started. The cheapest RTX 4090 I could find is $2100. According to my rough calculations, as inaccurate as they may be, the 4000 series gpu's are overpriced by AT LEAST 100% (What I mean is it is double the price it should be lol.)
