MSI GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING X TRIO review 5

In this review, we benchmark the GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING X Trio from MSI; yes MSI is back with a new Gaming X Trio, with that TRIO, of course, short for a triple-fan solution with an otherwise heavily customized product. With their aim to perform at low acoustics combined with a beautiful design card, lets start this review, shall we?

The reason is because they’re mostly on par in terms of performance, overclockability, and price. The Gigabyte Gaming OC also looks to be in the same tier. I’d be happy with any of the 3 but I do like that cooling in the TUF.

I think they all are at the moment, there seems to be currently a power limit "bug" preventing people to increase it.

That said it is not an issue if you are not overclocking at all or just do a normal overclock without increasing power limit,
just buy the one you like the most. Based on price/design/brand or whatever<3

Edit: After watching the last live stream video at GN I think it is not a bug at all, but a limitation allowing only 100%
power limit from each brand with cards with only 2 x 8 pin, to make them different from the 3 x 8 pin cards since the
Boost Clock is already close to max and most likely to limit how much power it pulls too.

Luckily I have 2 PSU's that are identical so have spares.

On the other hand, I'm glad the hardware is already squeezed from the factory without needing to OC and rely on silicon luck.
This is good for the vast majority of users.
There are 3 grades of silicon quality, 30% lowest, 60% medium, 10% highest.
The FE is apparently a mix of medium and highest so there is still a lottery.
Aside from that you get what you pay for, you can have the best GPU if you plonk down the cash.
This isnt how we were brought up though :(
It was a lot of fun finding out how good a card was.
