well, after so much posts... what is the real heck of benchmarking?????

....and gaming benchmarks goes according to:
Simple research:
In computing, a benchmark is the act of running a computer program, a set of programs, or other operations, in order to assess the relative performance of an object, normally by running a number of standard tests and trials against

This article was very helpful. I would love it if they updated it with 8xmsaa test speeds of the high end cards. Maybe even the high end cards with cf and SLI such as the 680 and 7970 vs the single Titan, 7990 and the 690.

I have a 580 and realize even if I sli , it won't cut it for 8xmsaa. I'd really like to know what cards would be sufficient for this game.

If you're running the same program with the same settings and the only variable being the GPU, then yes, you can judge the relative performance. After all it is the purpose of a benchmark: Objective comparison.
Crytek was likely selected for being
A) In popular use in the community
B) Relatively demanding.
C) It was called Crysis 3 Benchmark fer crying out loud for this specific game.

What would you suggest as a 'standard BENCHMARK' for GAMING?

SLI GTX 680 4GB or SLI Titans if you want to use 8x MSAA at 1920x1080 and maintain a min of 60 FPS.
