Core i7 4790K Processor 5.0 GHz Review - A Silicon Lottery

When we reviewed the Intel Core i7 4790K processor (Devils Canyon) the Haswell based processor refused to overclock over 4800 MHz. So why not purchase a binned Silicon Lottery processor that is guaranteed to run 5.0 GHz ?

I think you have misunderstood the process here
5.0 GHz - stock (non-OC)!??? Wow!? If yes then I'm very interested.

They're quite reasonably priced even without a discount. A must-have for enthusiasts.
That said, I myself think I'm in the market for a Core i5 without a K. Diminishing returns, you see. Lately, I have been running my CPU at stock speed (down from an OC of 3.6 GHz) and I haven't noticed any meaningful change, even though it's 5 years old. What I'm saying is, I have a crisis of faith in overclocking

Oh oh oh ,this one interest me more than the 4790K,but if not, the 4790K worth it.
Thanks to you and your team.
Thanks for the great review Hilbert. I've had quite a few people ask about 5820Ks- we will have some up for sale in a few days.
