With six performance cores and hyper-threading, the Core i5 12400 might be the most desired budget-friendly and properly performing Alder Lake series processor as a gaming platform. It offers heaps of tier1 performance, can be tied towards DDR5 memory and a cheaper B660 chipset.

From what I've been seeing, sadly, the overclocking trick only works on the z690 chipsets and on ddr5 b660 boards. It would be fun to play with this CPU, but she'll be ecstatic with base clocks anyways. =D

This CPU, an Asus Prime B660-PLUS D4 board and 32gb of 3600-18 shows up tomorrow.

Gonna pick up a 11400f, should be nice upgrade over the 10100f.
My next build will probably be ddr4 /12 gen.

I'd look or wait for mobo with BCLK OC , that would give you about 20-30% free performance :)
