Introduction

Asus  ROG Gladius III mouse(wired and wireless)

In this article, we review the Asus ROG Gladius III mouse in a wired and wireless version. It’s an optical gaming mouse that was launched on 15.05.2021. It’s a new version of the model that was introduced already seven years ago (2014). ROG Gladius was the first gaming mouse that was made by the Republic of Gamers. Coengineered with pro gamers in the design stage, the classic, ergonomic handshape of the Gladius series has been established. Gladius is the trusted sword of the most significant Roman warrior Maximus. The next chapter of the story has been introduced in 2017 (Gladius II) and 2018 (Gladius II Orion). Now it’s 2021, and we got here coming from the initial 6400 DPI, through the 12000 DPI to the current 19K. The ROG Gladius III is targeted at (all-around) gamers, but it should also work more than fine as a regular mouse. This time, the optical sensor is PixArt PAW3370. The default 19000 DPI can be tweaked up to 26K. The hot-swappable main button switch sockets allow you to use 3-pin mechanical (installed at default and rated for 70 million clicks) and 5-pin Omron optical switches (D2FP-FN, which you can find in the box). The feet are made of PTFE, and you can also find the replacement ones (which is a nice feature). The RGB lighting (there are three areas - Logo/Scroll Wheel/Side) is configurable via Asus Armoury Crate. The hybrid body shape of the Gladius III is carved to fit palm, claw, and fingertip grip styles like a glove. The ROG GLADIUS III has six buttons that can be remapped or set to custom macros. You can also adjust sensitivity, customize DPI presets, and more (five profiles can be saved).

The weight is low for a wireless device, as it is 89 g and the wired version is 10 g less (79 g). What are the differences between them? Besides the wireless operation ability with up to 55 hours in RF 2.4GHz mode and 85 hours using the Bluetooth (5.1 LE). For the Bluetooth operation, it’s possible to pair it with up to three devices. Well, you also get the paracord cable in both versions (for the Wireless - it's thinner), which is 2 meters long. On the Gladius III Wireless, the cable is detachable and connects with a convenient USB Type-C port. Aaah, we can’t forget about the 1,000 Hz Polling Rate. The ROG Gladius III Wireless costs 109.90 Euros, and the wired version has an MSRP of 89.90 Euros. The warranty is two years, so that’s pretty standard. Is this product worth its price, given the provided features and functionality? Let’s find out.
