AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (reference) review

Priced at $479 USD, AMD released their 'mainstream to high-end Radeon RX 6700 XT. A product that is to battle with the RTX 3060 Ti and 3070 from team green. Armed with 12GB of graphics memory, will it offer enough performance for a graphics card with such a massive pricetag?

The 3060 is not a crappy card. In fact it's much better than the 6700XT. It's very close in performance while costing significantly less. The 3060 is just a meh product. It's not an upgrade for most people who upgrade every 2-3 years. And for budget conscious buyers who upgrade once upon a blue moon it's kind of expensive. At 320$ it means once things are back to normal 3rd party cards will be in the neighbourhood of 360-380$ which is kind of expensive for such a product but still less ridiculous than the 6700XT at 480$. The 6700XT is a good 80-100$ overpriced. It's as bad as the 2070 Super price was but without the performance.

I think we cannot judge a card by MSRP now, and badges cannot be attached based on MSRP which is an illusion. Looking at BB, only the eVGA RTX 3060 is priced closest to MSRP at 390USD. The rest, two PNY and one MSI are priced at 500USD. An RTX 3060 at 500USD is definitely NOT a good deal, and shouldn't receive a badge.....anywhere. IF the reference RX 6700 XT's by AMD, not talking about AIB's, are sold at 479USD, then they present a better value in terms of price/performance. I see TPU gave it an 'Editor's Choice' award for the Reference AMD model.

Card is severly cut down from 6800 so no wonder its not even close despite high clocks but 30% faster than 5700xt is no slouch. 192bit bus also hinders the performance. The card landed exactly where we though it will.

It all ends up do you consider dlss to be the future or 12gb vram will come in handy soon but yeah availability will play the biggest role.

My $500 2070s smashes this card with DLSS. It's especially true with Cyberpunk 2077 as DLSS looks 99.99% as good as with it off if you run quality mode.

@Hilbert Hagedoorn The review page no 12 has an mistake which needs to be corrected as bechmarks for 4k are missing and you have used same WQHD benchmarks which are doubled.

When you compare to the 5700XT, which has the same core count and lower frequency, it's surprising to me how the 6700XT uses less power, while also being noticeably faster.

My 5700xt OC's to 2,15ghz @1,1V. I think GPU power was 180W at most.
