Overclocking with OC Scanner

Overclocking your RTX graphics card with OC Scanner

NVIDIA has introduced a new way of overclocking and tweaking starting at RTX (and only for). Basically, you can now automatically overclock the GPU. By pressing the OC scanner button you can have a software algorithm test and check intervals and voltage frequency curves, the scanner will try to determine a stable overclock, this is presented in a curve and that curve can be applied for your tweak.

Ocabscanner

In Afterburner (download), hit Control+F and you will see the OC Scanner button. be aware, hitting the scan button can take 10 minutes of testing. It will define a new stable overclocking curve, once finished in Afterburner hit apply and you are good to go. You can, however, test the tweak hereafter as well.

And the OC Scanner curve is a much more friendly tweak than brute-forcing the GPU manually:

  1. Set power limiter to max
  2. Find your stable memory frequency (in our case +1000)
  3. Leave voltage control at default (!)
  4. Hit the OC scanner (takes ~10 minutes)
  5. Once finished hit apply in AB.
  6. Run the Test, and peek at the results.
  7. Enjoy your automated tweak.

The curve overclock is away a more gentle way of tweaking compared to manual brute forcing. The algorithm is defined by NVIDIA. With my added tweaks on memory and power limiter, we can gain 5 to 10% performance and that is roughly similar to the manual tweak. So my advice, find a stable memory overclock, crank up the power limiter and try a scan. You might up ending being surprised.
