The CA20K1 DSP, has well over 50 million transistors, the core is clocked at 400 MHz. I hear some of you thinking, hmm so can we overclock it then ;)

The two more expensive versions of the X-Fi series (Fatality and Elite Pro) have 64 MB onboard memory (X-Memory). Above you see a memory chip, Micron 32Mx(16x4) (48LC32M16A2-75) SDRAM. The memory used to cache audio samples for games that support it, or application specific samples like synthesizer samples. Future stuff, we need some real X-Ram support in games before we can draw any real conclusions. (Ed: I wonder if we can overclock the RAM too! :D)

At the end of the card we see a lot of pins, these are to be connected to a flat cable that leads towards the I/O drive bay that you'll receive within our case the Fatality card.

A Cirrus Logic CS4382 8-channel DAC (D/A converter) for the X-Fi Fatality FPS cards. The CS4382 is exceedingly capable with a rated 114dB S/N ratio and support for 24-bit, 192 KHz digital audio.
