SSD Performance Real World Benchmarks

Real world benchmarks

Trace benchmarks, which are tests that are based on the use of real-world programs, are used to gather a more precise picture of the real-world performance of SSDs. Our benchmarks for the following three pages include traces from Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign (including After Effects), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (including PowerPoint), World of Warcraft (including World of Warcraft: Battlefield 3), and Battlefield 3. The results of all individual tests are presented on the next two pages. We believe that the tests on these three pages are the most representative of what a consumer or gamer might encounter.

The bandwidth score, which is the average read and write transfer speed assessed across all ten application traces, is depicted in the graphs below. During the initial recording of the disk utilization, these traces are played back and recorded in real time, including the idle period between each recording. This is determined by the geometric average time it takes to execute all tests, including idle time, and calculate the overall score. Thus, when measured using the standard score, the performance of all current SSDs is extremely similar to one another.
