ViewSonic Elite XG240R With Adaptive-Sync

In this article, we will test out the € 269,- costing FreeSync compatible ViewSonic Elite XG240R Monitor. While we think that most people use something WHQD, 70% of the gamers still use a Full HD monitor. And this is a 24-inch 1920x1080 screen, TN based with a 144 HZ refresh rate. The response time of the panel is estimated by ViewSonic to be 1 ms.  Oh yes, and some RGB lighting as well as offering FreeSync and GSync compatibility in the form of adaptive sync. It offers a variable frame rate of up to 144 Hz. AMD FreeSync is supported in the 48-144 Hz range, including AMD's Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC), which minimizes tearing and image jitter even in low FPS areas of less than 48 Hz by multiplying the image output - provided the player uses an AMD graphics card. The XG240R is not officially listed as a G-Sync compatible monitor by Nvidia, the device, however, works fine when you enable the feature in the Nvidia driver.

The new Elite series obviously addresses PC gamers. The minimalistic design is managed in such a fashion that the monitors can be placed in any room. The product is based on a fast TN panel, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and the elite OSD with RGB LED lighting. "Elite RGB", in the form of two light elements on the back of the monitor.  The 24-inch ViewSonic XG240R as stated is just a Full HD resolution monitor, it is available for less than 270 bucks.

The XH240R is fitted with a 6-bit panel but reaches 16.8 million colors by using FRC technology which makes it virtually 8-bit color depth. The color space coverage is quoted by the manufacturer at 72% NTSC. The maximum brightness of the display is 350 cd/m². The contrast would be 1000:1  Anyway, let's have a peek at the product and then dive a little deeper.
