The Verdict:
Copyright 2005 Guru3D.comAfter the various criticisms I have mentioned above, you could be forgiven for wondering what I make of this game. The truth is that despite some of these short comings I absolutely loved my time spent wandering the underbelly of LA. The in depth characters, varied quests, and political complexities of the plot are absorbing, and engaging. Couple this with the unending fun of being able to feast on an unlimited supply of human flesh, and the ability to gruesomely kill your enemys with a variety of powers, you can find yourself immersed in an alternate world.

There are many hours of gaming to be had here (near to 40hrs for a single play through), and the replayability is immense, considering the seven clans and then male/female characters that each provide a different style of play, new powers, and differing level of interaction with NPCs. Had Troika taken more time to polish the source engine, and utilise it to its full potential, and had they spent more time balancing the combat, then this game would have been a true masterpiece of the RPG world.

As it is, its an engaging foray into the world of the Vampire that offers a different experience to anything else available. Any issues you may have are soon forgotten as you delve in to a deep, dark underworld where few things are what they seem
