Each Clan also has its own set of powers, ranging from Thaumaturgy, better described as blood sorcery, giving you the ability to boil your foes blood and sending their body parts flying, Celerity, which works in a similar way to bullet time and Animalism, which allows you to call up animals to do your bidding. There are many other powers available, all of which add a new dimension to your character. If you are stuck about which Clan to decide on, you can answer a series of questions, which will then suggest a Clan that best suits your playing style.

Once you have made these decisions you are presented with a character creation sheet, typical of many RPGs. Here you are given a set number of experience points to spend in order to enhance you attributes, abilities and disciplines. One nice little touch here is a list that highlights the relevant abilities etc you need when you roll over an action, making it more accessible for the RPG newcomer. With your Character created and ready to go, you can step out into the unknown. After an initial tutorial, given by the imagCopyright 2005 Guru3D.cominatively named Jack you are set free to roam the streets of LA. You begin as the protégé of Prince La Croix, head of the Camarilla, an organisation based upon the principle of the Masquerade, where Vampires should mask their existence from Kine (humans) and not kill unless necessary. This has a direct impact on gameplay.

If you kill a human unnecessarily while feeding, you will lose Humanity. Loose too much humanity and you will begin to loose your grip on reality, frenzying uncontrollably for a set amount of time. This can be frustrating when walking down a street, but quite useful in a fight, as you gain considerable strength while loosing control of your actions. If you use your powers in public, then you violate the Masquerade, violate it too many times and you will meet your doom! You also have a blood-meter which shows your current level of blood. You require blood in order to use your vampire powers. You increase your blood levels by feeding on humans, or by obtaining blood packs. If you happen to get low or run out of blood, then you risk frenzying.
