As you can see there are two SSDs housed in this USB 3.1 compatible enclosure. These are in fact two Samsung 840 Evo mSATA SSDs setup in a RAID 0 configuration. They connect towards an ASMedia controller ASM1352R for USB 3.1 - Mind you that this storage unit is intended for demonstration purposes only, ASUS has not indicated that they will ship this product in retail.

As you can see the device actually uses two USB cables. The unit is a prototype so the main Type C USB 3.1 connector heads on over to the ASMedia USB 3.1 connector. Then we feed power of a 'regular' Micro-B USB connector.

There is no need to install any software if you use an all pathced up Windows 8.1 (which you really want for fast performance). If needed you install the USB 3.0/3.1 drivers from the CD and you are up and running. Now in theory with default windows drivers over UASP you should already achieve maximum performance. We however installed the ASUS AI Suite software suite as it has a specific USB 3.1 Boost.

Once installed there is no specific UASP mode detected, so simply click on Turbo after which everything will kick in nicely fast.
