Temperature Measurements

During our test benchmarks stress tests with a high-stress workload, we monitor the SSD temperature. The unit idles at roughly 60 Degrees C, the peak stress temperature measured hovers at roughly 75 Degrees C. At that temperature the controller starts throttling down to meet that 75 Degrees C maximum temperature, at the cost of performance. We advice good airflow inside your PC, that or the usage of an M.2 SSD heatsink as offered with many motherboards to bypass this problem.

Performance degrades as the controller throttles down with thermal protection

We decided, for this review to add a tiny bit of airflow with the help of a low RPM fan 10cm away from the storage unit. We'll talk a bit more about this on the conclusion page.

A thermal image of the non-cooled SSD shows nothing worrying though. Thermal management kicks in, and it is working alright.
