HDD Performance HD Tune PRO

HD Tune Pro

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk utility and benchmarking utility for Windows. This tiny application allows you to scan your hard drives for errors or take a deeper look at several performance figures coming from the storage unit.

We're first going to look at performance measured all over the platters and population. For both reads and writes, at worst the HDD manages roughly 110 MB/sec, at best 250 MB/sec.

As you can see a quick perf scan shows sequential read and writes at that 260 MB/sec marker, which is pretty good for a HDD. The Random IOPS perf, however, caved in. What can I say, it is the Achilles heel of the HDD with mechanical heads trying to reach the right position at the platters.
