The Software

The Software

To get the most out of your Realforce RGB, you need to download and install the software. Many thanks to Walter at Seasonic for providing the link. You can find the software here.

Once installed, the RGB software allows you to customize the backlight, customize a few presets, set the APC, reset to default, save to keyboard, and save profiles, among other things. Let’s look at the backlight settings, since this is where you’ll spend most of your time.

You can see all the 7 modes available on the RGB, some you can customize, others you cannot. For example, you can customize the Shooting Star mode for color and speed. But for Pressed Key Lighting + BL, you can only customize the color of the keypress, not the color of the backlight.

Some modes show User settings, which are defined by the User Setting screen, and that’s what will show if selected for the mode. There’s nothing to adjust other than brightness.

Moving on.

There is one thing that you can do, for just about endless entertainment. Oh, I spent a long time creating this pixel art. You have three profiles stored on the keyboard, and you can save these off to your computer. There are five defaults already created that you can load if you need inspiration.

And what would we be without proper lipstick red for the backlight?

The APC settings tab is excellent, however. The software allows you to set per-key actuation points. This is pretty amazing, actually. As I mentioned, I wish there were at least three user modes, like you have for the backlight, though. This would go a long way in making the per-key setting more flexible for more games you might play regularly.

I also notice an update firmware choice, which makes me happy to see.

The software is intuitive and stable, though I wish it had more customization features. It feels like it isn’t quite finished as of this writing. However, based on the overall polish, I’m hopeful that Topre will add more modes and more backlight customization to the software. My wish list would include custom animations, like what Cooler Master includes with their API. An open API Topre RGB would be spectacular, now that I think about it.
