Topre Realforce RGB Keyboard (Seasonic) review - Product Gallery

Construction

My version came with a slight wobble, which makes this the third keyboard in a row (and I’m starting to doubt my table) to come out of the box with a wobble. However, trying to flex the RGB to get rid of the wobble makes you realize how stiff and inflexible the board is.

Despite the stiff case, the RGB does suffer from an otherwise flimsy feeling top. You can wibble and wobble the bezels all around the RGB, giving it a somewhat cheap feeling construction.

The feet give just about 1.3 (.5 inch) centimeters more of height, which I found to be just a little too high for my tastes.

The case is snapped together, and held by a single screw.

Underneath the keycaps, you find a white mounting plate for the switches.

The switches themselves have clear acrylic tops, with the white MX sliders. The clear tops, of course, let the SMD LEDs shine through, and the white mount plate allow light to diffuse and reflect up.

The LED has a channel on the top of the Topre switch.

You can also see the stabilizers, which are neither Costar or Cherry. It’s Topre’s own design, and it feels very much like Costar. The RGB stabilizers are very nice, with almost no change in feeling between stabilized and non-stabilized keys, and smooth as butter. They don’t bind off center, or rattle at all, either.

I don’t mind a non-detachable cable, if it’s decently sturdy. Topre keyboards have never had a detachable cable that I’m aware of, so I’m not surprised that the RGB doesn’t have one either. You do get a very adequate 1.5m long USB cable. It’s quite thick and doesn’t bend all that easily. Mm, sturdy.

The side profile is interesting in that it’s a tipped over L shape. The profile of the keycaps is also likewise interesting in that it’s a normal OEM (or Filco) profile.

Let’s get into the heart of a Topre keyboard, the switch.
