Team Group PD400 Portable SSD review -
SSD Performance SiSoft Sandra HDD
SiSoft Sandra HD test
SiSoft Sandra is a comprehensive suite of benchmarks designed to test various parts of your system, fairly similar to a test like PC Mark or Passmark. One of the tests on offer is disk benchmarking, and - somewhat conveniently - the suite also lists other drives in the same ballpark as the one you have just tests, useful for stacking it up against the competition. To those who haven't used SiSoft Sandra before, you might be very surprised at the sheer breadth and depth of what is on offer, here.
There are a variety of tests available, but we go for the standard 'Read Performance' and 'Read 4K Blocks Performance.' The PD400, as we have come to expect, does very well on sequential read performance. In fact, it's able to pull in a very solid 525MB/s, which puts it in firing distance of some regular 2.5'' internal SATA based drives. Then again, given what we have seen so far, this really shouldn't be much of a surprise at all. The PD400 handily beats the Seagate product, and by a significant margin.
What about the 4k read test? Well, as expected, we have a drop-in performance here. However, the drive holds its own and is steady @ c. 140MB/s, just shy of the Seagate product. Not bad, not great, average. There is certainly a defined pattern emerging, now. The PD400 seems entirely capable, but our raft of tests has shown clearly that it has some weaknesses that - when shown - tank performance quite significantly.
Finally, we move onto Anvil Storage Utilities.
