SiSoft Sandra Disk Benchmarks

SiSoft Sandra is a fairly comprehensive suite of benchmarks designed to test various parts of your system, fairly similar to a test like PC Mark or Passmark. One of the tests on offer is disk benchmarking, and - somewhat conveniently - the suite also lists other drives in the same ballpark as the one you have just tests, useful for stacking it up against the competition.

There are a variety of tests available, but we go for the standard 'Read Performance' and 'Read 4K Blocks Performance.' Judging by the results of both, the first appears to be a standard sequential read, with the latter being a more real-world random read. Anyway, how does the drive do? Well, for the first test, really rather well. Samsung's flagship 850 Evo series hits 470MB/s, whereas the Delta pulls in a very nice win, here, hitting 530MB/s. This also proves a match for the 2TB QVO in Hilbert's review. Then again, this is sequential read, and said results tends to flatter most drives. Introduce some 4k randomness to the proceedings, and the flaws of TLC NAND hit home, with the Delta falling a good 50MB/s behind the now fairly old 850 Evo. This wasn't exactly a surprise, and shouldn't be to any of you, either. By now, you're getting a picture of what this drive is capable of, and where it falls short.
