HDD Performance HD Tune PRO

HD Tune Pro

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk utility and benchmarking utility for Windows. This tiny application allows you to scan your hard drives for errors or take a deeper look at several performance figures coming from the storage unit. This program not only measures the capacity of hard disks, it also provides information about the use of CPU, the rate of data transfer and other relevant details. It is even able to provide information about programs such as their versions and serial numbers.

A quick HDTune test shows fairly consistent performance on sequential reads/writes, the small 4K random operf is dramatic though.

If you look at say 1MB IOPS pers, we max out at 49 MB/s for reads. Not bad. But a modern age SSD would do 450 MB/s here.

Write performance 1 MB seems OK. But I am fairly certain this is a direct result of the 128 MB DRAM cachce that resides on the HDD. Regardless, that buffer works OK. In the grand sceheme of things though...
