AMD's Radeon RX 7900 series was released a few weeks ago, but the firm has only just recently revealed how it stacks up against NVIDIA's RTX 4080, the company's latest card based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. As expected, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX outperforms the Radeon RX 6950 XT and provides better value for money than the RTX 4080.
The primary GPU chip and GDDR6 Memory are positioned so that the Vapor Chamber is in direct contact with their surfaces. Because heat is transferred uniformly over the Vapor-X module's surface, it is able to dissipate heat more effectively than a traditional copper heat sink. To dissipate the heat, the heated object is directed toward the Vaporization champer. Working fluid and pure water are both easily vaporised in the vacuum and travel through the vacuum to the Condensing Wick, which is adjacent to the cooled surface. At this point, it changes back to a liquid and is transported back towards the Vaporization Wick via capillary action. When the liquid is reheated by a heat source and then re-vaporized, the Vapor-X Cooling process is restarted and the system is considered to be a recycled liquid system.
The XTX die features 96 ray accelerators, 192 ROPs, 6,144 (x2) shader processors, and 384 texture units. It is made up of 58 billion transistors. These will reach a peak half precision performance of 123 TFLOPs and a single precision of up to 61 TFLOPs. A 96 MB infinite cache backs it up. The maximum bandwidth achieved from the 24 GB of GDDR6 operating at 20 Gbps is 960 GB/s. Additionally, the card will need three 8-pin power connectors.
It is based on a triple-fan cooler and a 3-slot design with triple 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the card is bound to please and tease many. In addition to 2x DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, 2x HDMI 2.1 outputs (but no USB Type-C connector that supports DP2.1). As for frame rates, they may go as high as 480Hz in 4K and 165Hz in 8K with the help of AMD's new Radiance Display engine, which supports DisplayPort 2.1. It is another question whether you will be able to take advantage of it, but it is nice to see AMD add the display connector since Nvidia conspicuously left it off the RTX 4090.
The Nitro+ revision comes pre-overclocked per usual Sapphire practise, the RX 7900 XTX operates at a Game Clock of 2510 MHz and a Boost Clock of 2680 MHz. The cooler on the Sapphire Nitro+ is also considerably larger than those on prior models. The brand-new Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ cooler is broader than 3 slots. In addition, the cooler has two independently controllable ARGB strips on the top and bottom that, like all Nitro+ models, can be managed with the Sapphire TRIXX application.
The Sapphire RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ will include a dual bios switch and three 8-pin PCIe ports. The Sapphire Nitro+ model of the RX 7900 XTX graphics card has two HDMI 2.1 ports and two Display 2.1 ports on the back, suggesting that it uses a unique PCB design that differs from the standard board.
