Final Words & Conclusion

The Samsung T7 Shield Portable SSD is a reasonably low-cost USB Type-C compatible SSD with storage capacity running up to 2 TB in the year 2022, almost twice as fast as a SATA3 SSD that we all still used three years ago. It has a high-quality feel and is constructed with durability in mind. Its most minor distinguishing feature is its modest size, making it simple to transport. We were particularly impressed with the speed of the T7 Portable SSD, which remained quick and responsive throughout our testing and thus reaches anywhere from 500 MB to close to 1 GB/sec performance levels. We quickly and easily extracted data from enormous files and delivered them in record time. We had no major issues throughout our testing, which is a positive for this solid-state drive. As previously stated, this SSD's performance can be inferior to that of competing SSDs. This makes sense when you consider the drive's function as a portable storage device that allows for easy access to its contents. Regardless, it will satisfy the great majority of buyers because it is a fantastic SSD for general-purpose computing needs. Also even for backup purposes, this unit would be incredibly handy.

Concluding

The T7 Shield Portable SSD is a solid-state external drive that is small and portable, making it ideal for users who demand small, portable storage. In addition to having a USB Type-C connector, it also boasts a drop-resistant casing as well as is compatible with a great number of devices. The SSD routinely performs at or near the claimed level in terms of performance. Is the T7 Shield worth the extra 40 euros it costs over the regular T7? In most circumstances, the original form would be preferred, however, sometimes dust and drop resistance are critical if you're on the road. Next to that the SSD also is water resistant. We're not saying you should go diving with it, but some rain it will withstand  In that context, the Samsung T7 Shield Portable SSD appears well suited as an on-the-go external drive. The Samsung T7 Shield Portable SSD is an excellent external drive; it features lightning-fast speeds and a tough shell that can withstand road rage. The SSD comes with a contemporary USB-C cable and a legacy cable for usage with PCs that use USB-A ports. The SSD comes in three colors and is small enough to fit in a pocket; it comes in one and two-terabyte capacities at prices that were unheard of just a year or two ago. At street prices of $134.99 for 1TB and $229.99 for 2TB we think it's reasonably priced and by far fast enough for everyday usage. Sure, there are faster drives available. But for what this is, needs to be and offers, it's plenty fast for most use case and workload scenarios.
