SSD Operating Temperatures

Temperature Measurements

A relatively weaker point of a small-sized from factor M.2 NVMe SSD may be thermals. Under extreme workloads, many users worry about performance drops due to heat generation. You can bypass that greatly by using a heat spreader. However NVMe SSDs these days also have active thermal throttling if the controller or NAND gets too hot. Performance can go down, but that prevents overheating. We test a product the way it arrives, without a heatsink.
