Teardown

Powercolor distinctly requested this product to not undergo a teardown as they are rotating this exclusive media sample. We received some PCB photos though. Underneath the heatsink is a modified PCB with the power phases, AMD's reference design normally is 13 power phases (11+2). DrMos high-polymer caps are employed extensively throughout the design process. A power rating of over 400W is claimed by PowerColor for this card, and the company also claims that distributing the load across multiple phases helps to keep board temperatures under control. Powered by a trio of 8-pin PCIe connectors (each rated at 150w), the card has more than adequate power headroom in addition to the power given by the PEG slot, which is a first for the industry.
